Called Largin the Red, Largin the Bloody, Bloody Largin or just The Damned. In the beginning, he was an elven mage, taught by Master Mage Telmore Nock. Largin was one of the few men of magic to attain the status of Warmaster.
Largin is the only Warmaster to have been forcibly removed from office. When he first rose to the rank of Warmaster, he was a hero and much loved, but after his encounter with Shile Tan in the ruins of Soular's Rest, he declined. He became obsessed with gaining power enough to beat Shile Tan. Seeking more power, he started studying the dark arts himself, summoning all manner of beasts not of the world and as his study of these vile creatures grew, so did his demands. This was the start of "The Days of Blood".
Eventually, there were rumors of blood sacrifices to satisfy the needs of Largin's power. When crowds came to Largin to protest, he ordered that they be put to the sword as traitors for defying him. The warriors refused to carry out such a heinous act and Largin flew into a rage, unleashing his beasts and fell servants.
Svarthiem fell into civil war, for there are always those that are drawn to power no matter where it flows.
The war finally ended in 562 with a showdown between Largin the Red and Belandra, the then Tanathar. During the fight, Largin tried to escape with the Heart Stone using a magic portal, but in the heat of the battle something went wrong and the portal backfired, blowing up Largin and the Stone with him.
