This story begins during the time of the Cursed Warmaster, Largin the Red, whilst he still held the title Meleki with honour.
In the year 558, Largin was Warmaster of the Black Wolves. Undead monsters were increasingly prowling along the boarders of Svartheim, their boldness increasing daily. These were not the acts of mindless zombies; their direction and actions were purposeful, and the hand of Shile Tan was suspected.
Eventually, one of the questing undead came across a mausoleum erected to those that had died in the Underdark and the during the subsequent battle where Lord Wolf granted the Black Wolves their homeland. Once the mausoleum was discovered, all the undead started to converge on it along with Shile Tan and his followers. There, he started to raise the dead from the catacombs below to add to his own nefarious army.
Largin, as Warmaster, set out to evict this hideous creature and his kin. Largin's forces clashed with Shile Tan's followers outside the mausoleum and Largin and his guard won through to the Mausoleum and the catacombs below.
Largin and his remaining guards fought their way through the catacombs against all manner of vile creatures. Finally Largin's small force won through to the heart of the catacombs where Shile Tan was and took the fight to the necromancer. The struggle was hard and bitter; the remains of Largins guards fell around him, and Largin himself was grievously wounded. All seemed lost and Largin was preparing to die when the spirit of the Black Wolf came to him and bid him use the Soular against Shile Tan. Largin had been given the Stone to use in combating the threat of the undead. Dazed and near to death, he did as he was bidden, and hurled the Stone straight at the necromancer. There was a blinding flash of light and Largin was picked up and hurled across the chamber by the blast. The light grew in intensity and Shile Tan began to scream in pain as it burnt him. The whole chamber stated to crumble and shake around them; Largin staggered and stumbled away through the collapsing catacombs, trying to escape before everything came crashing down on top of him; burying him along with Shile Tan for evermore.
Largin was found just outside the remains of the catacomb entrance, near to death. The ruins are known to this day as Soular's Rest.
